The digital format of ISDN allows faster transmission, greater capacity and is more efficient than the traditional analog connections utilized by most normal phone lines. This is because transmitting data over an analog phone line to a digital computer requires signal conversion. With ISDN, no signal conversion is necessary, and the resulting transmission is both faster and more stable than that provided by ordinary modems.
